We are a tico couple in love with this wonderful country; believers of our costa rican nature, excellent surf conditions and honored of our roots. We decided to create this project and share this paradise with all guests who want to have unforgettable surfing experiences in one of the best regions of Costa Rica, Guanacaste.

Lovers of the green world and grateful with the Mother Nature we have decided to join with the mission of nature conservation; that is the reason why our surf retreat is not a simple surf camp; it is an ECO SURF EXPERIENCE. This is one of our main objectives, the achievement of many people to come together in support of value nature.

Ták Mèwö name is a phrase from our Bribris aborigines, who really had an authentic respect for the eco system. Sadly, they are a population who live with complicated economic situation, so we took the decision to honor them, who are the original habitants of these lands.

What we do

Ták Mèwö is based in Playa Avellanas offering to our guests the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful beach surrounded by exuberant nature. Here in Ták Mèwö Surf Retreat our major goal is to provide to our visitors including surfers woman and surfers kids, an unforgettable Costa Rica surfing experience with safe, personalized and high quality services.

Our office staff has more than 8 years working on all Costa Rica destinations. The surf instructors have over 19 years living and surfing in the area. We have a very professional crew including instructors with Red Cross certification in Firs Aid and Aquatic Rescue as well as more than 10 years of surf teaching experience.

Avellanas Surf School is the only permitted, licensed and insured surf school in Costa Rica offering a real safe experience escorted by the best staff.
